The Frequency Counter VI allows you to measure the frequency of the input signal directly. The hardest part is to find a range that allows you to record the highest number of significant digits (highest resolution). Frequency counters and function generators often have a series of push buttons or a selection knob for selecting a gate time. This selection tells the counter how long to count pulses. If the device counts the number of pulses that occurred within a specific time period, it can calculate the frequency in Hertz (pulses per second).
